What Is an Integrated Course and Where Can It Lead Me?

Updated: Aug 6

For aspiring helicopter pilots, Helicentre Aviation’s Integrated CPL(H) course offers a fast, structured, and career-focused route into the aviation industry. Whether your dream is to support emergency services, operate in offshore environments or fly tourists over scenic landscapes, this course lays the foundation for a dynamic and rewarding career.

The Integrated CPL(H) course is designed for individuals with little or no previous flight experience. Before starting, students must complete a Pilot Selection Day, this ensures the course is the right fit and helps build confidence in their ability to succeed.

Once enrolled, students embark on an intensive, full-time training programme that includes both ground school and practical flight training. The course consists of 135 hours of flight instruction and 750 hours of theoretical in person classroom teaching, covering essential aviation subjects such as Air Law, Meteorology, Navigation, and Flight Performance. The training includes skills assessments to prepare students for the demands of professional aviation.

We asked Adam, a current student on our 14th Integrated course, how he is finding the training. “It’s an intense and fun course. Once you start flying, it makes all the hard work, especially on Module One, worthwhile. The flying really puts what you learn into perspective.” He added, “It’s definitely achievable, even if you don’t have a background in aviation.”

Adam also highlighted how valuable the support from his classmates has been, noting that teamwork within the group has played a key role in his success so far.

Upon successfully passing the course, students are awarded a Commercial Pilot Licence, qualifying them to begin working as Professional Helicopter Pilots across a variety of sectors. Graduates of Helicentre’s Integrated Course go on to pursue careers in offshore oil and gas transport, emergency services and tourism. Many also return to Helicentre as utility crew members or go on to complete our Flight Instructor Course, eventually teaching the next generation of helicopter pilots at Helicentre.

Helicentre Aviation maintains strong connections with leading helicopter operators who often recruit directly from its graduate pool. In many cases, students secure flying positions shortly after completing their training.

If you're ready to take the first step toward an aviation career, the next Integrated CPL(H) course begins in Autumn 2025 — and you can register your interest here: https://www.flyheli.co.uk/courses/-integrated-commercial-training
