World Suicide Prevention Day
In aid of World Suicide Prevention Day, it’s important to raise awareness of how we can create a world where there are fewer deaths by suicide, which is always preventable. Samaritans campaign every year to spread the message and we think it is essential for every business to take mental health seriously. The suicide rates increase every year, and there is a high likelihood that the effect of the Covid-19 pandemic has had a huge impact on our mental health so we may see the figures rise significantly.
It is especially important within the aviation industry as your mental well-being not only has an impact on those around you but on your work performance and safety. So if you are within the aviation industry and you are struggling, there is plenty of help out there for you.
Helicentre Aviation has an active pilot peer support programme with Kura Human Factors, a company that has an impressive wealth of experience in supporting roles across the aviation training and airline industries. Kura offers a MAPS service (Multi Airline Peer Support) which is a cooperative Peer Support Programme, offering you independent and confidential one-to-one support with a like-minded, non-judgemental peer.
If you think you or someone else needs immediate help for a mental health crisis or emergency, you should call 999 or visit A & E.
