The next Robinson Safety Course which will be conducted by Richard Mornington-Sanford, the UK based Robinson representative, will be hosted by Helicentre Aviation on the 27th - 29th February 2012. This is an absolutely invaluable course for any Robinson helicopter pilot, whether you are an self-fly-hirer or owner. There are only five places left on this course, so enrol today to avoid disappointment.
If you've done the course before, why not do it again as a refresher! Robinson suggests an advanced emergencies refresher at least every two years, and since we are in an industry of constantly updating safety information and procedures, the chances are you will still learn something new even if you have done the course in previous years.
The course involves two full days of classroom instruction and new for 2012, is an in-depth walk-round of the aircraft on the third day. The two hours of advanced emergency flight training will follow the two days ground school which will allow you to obtain your course completion certificate. The flying can be done in either the R22 or R44 subject to availability.
The ground school curriculum includes a review of past R22 and R44 accidents, their causes and how they could be avoided, helicopter theory, and critical flight conditions. The course also covers the R22 and R44 Pilot Operating Handbook (POH) and Manoeuvre Guide and R22 Flight Training Guide, an in-depth look at the R22 and R44 systems and a review of maintenance and pre-flight procedures, a course review, written examination and critique.
Richard Mornington-Sanford has forty years of experience in the aviation industry; twenty-seven of these are with the Robinson product. A CAA licensed helicopter engineer, flight instructor (helicopters) and air accident investigator, his unique combination of expertise means that he is in demand from countries worldwide.
With over twenty years flight instruction experience, Richard is passionate about flight safety and devotes a considerable amount of time to that cause; primarily through conducting the Robinson R22/R44 Pilot Flight Safety Courses and lecturing human factor topics worldwide.
He is Robinson Helicopters Accident/Technical Investigator and conducts the Robinson Factory Maintenance Course in the UK, Europe and Worldwide together with EASA Part 147 type training approval. With CAA engineering and flight instructor licences, he is credited with having unrivalled experience outside of the factory on the Robinson product.
