Dick Mornington-Sanford's Safety Course will be running on the 17th - 19th May 2010.
You are probably aware that Richard Mornington-Sanford is the only U.K. safety expert presenting this course outside of the Robinson Helicopter factory.
The two days of intensive ground school will cover general accident review, types and causes, helicopter theory and engine management, and critical flight conditions. Dick also goes on to discuss regulations and individual accidents in more detail on day one.
Day two consists of an in depth look at the R22 and R44 pre-flight inspections, which is not just the basic stuff from the pilot's operating handbook, but more technical aspects and vital signs, tips and things to look out for based on having spent several years working with Robinson and for the Air Accidents Investigation Branch.
R22 and R44 Systems will be explored in great detail, and the end of the two days there will be short examination and evaluation session. The flying, which is charged at the current dual flying rate will usually follow on the Wednesday (or later in the week if unable to do Wednesday). Private owners are welcome to bring their own aircraft and hire the instructor for the safety flying.
Dick is a wealth of knowledge and has probably forgotten more about helicopter and aviation safety than many of us will ever learn - it not only raises awareness into the dangers of low rotor RPM, but it enhances knowledge on how to react in the event of an emergency.
If it's been a while since you did your PPL, and you want to recap on those all important emergency drills, there is no better time to do this course. If we learn from other people's stories, experiences and misfortune we can reduce the chances of becoming the next accident statistic.
The course will be run at Coventry Airport and since places are limited we do need reserve your place before the 17th April. Please give us a call on 02476 511 615 to book your place on the course, or alternatively .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) and we will book you in.
