The day started at Coventry airport where one R44 and three R22s departed the field bound for Thruxton. The weather was gorgeous and the trip down was absolutely fantastic.
The helicopters routed via Brize Norton, giving the hour-builders a chance to cross the Brize zone, and to see some new parts of the country from the air. Entry into the Boscombe MATZ was also great experience.
Once settled in at the Karting track, everyone was suited up, briefed and shown to their Kart, where for the next 15 minutes they would experience the thrills of zooming around the track at up to 70mph!
Everyone had a lot of fun, despite the bruising (those little karts certainly know how to inflict pain!). Congratulations to Dave Usher who managed to score the fastest lap time. The "Karting Daredevil" award has to go to Andy Hennigan, who made the most entertaining sweep past the spectators!

Once the excitement had settled, everyone made their way back to their aircraft and departed for Kemble, where the crews spent the afternoon chilling out on the terrace of their lovely restaurant and talking about helicopters.
The whole day was an absolute roaring success and everyone who attend is thoroughly looking forward to the next outing. If you would like to join in on a future Helicentre trip, check out our events calendar to find out when the next one will be.
