Last night the Bournemouth office of Helicentre Aviation ran its first Helicopter Pilot Career Seminar. Six potential pilots came along to find out how to become a professional pilot, and then more importantly what potential career opportunities could be at the end of it.
The seminar was run by our 2 Bournemouth based instructors; Dan Vickers and Nick Cox. The feedback from the participants at the end of the night was very positive. The diversity in ambition in the room was a good show case of the industry.
One of participants was particularly interested in becoming a flight instructor to fit around his current job, another wanting to stay on-shore was interested in the possibilities of pipe-line patrol, and another potential career pilot was interested in life flying crew changes to oil rigs in the North Sea.
All of these parts of the industry (as well as a lot more) were covered, starting with the experience you would need to have prior to starting down each different route (and how to get that experience), the responsibilities of the positions, the potential earnings, and any other questions that were asked.
The team at the Bournemouth base of Helicentre are already looking forward to the next two career seminars to be run on Sat 24th at 0930 and Mon 26th at 1800. For more information or to book a place on any of our career seminars, go to the Career Seminar section of our website, or call the team on 08006 123 211.
