Congratulations Amanda Huggins - First Solo!

Well done to sixteen-year-old Amanda Huggins, our youngest ever female student pilot to go solo!

Amanda completed her first solo today in the Robinson R22 helicopter at Leicester Airfield, a proud moment for both her parents and her instructors. She was extremely pleased with her achievement, and thought the flight went really well.

To go solo in a helicopter at sixteen years old, the youngest age that a student pilot is allowed fly unaccompanied, is a fantastic achievement in itself, but in addition to this Amanda has already taken part in a Helicentre trip across the Irish Sea with fellow pilots and hour builders.

This was an exciting and educational trip for Amanda as she learnt a lot from the pilots on the trip, both about the aviation industry and the day to day responsibilities and procedures involved in being a helicopter pilot, from preparing the aircraft before flight to checking weather and filing flight plans.

Amanda is looking forward to completing the rest of her PPL(H) and enjoying flying helicopters once she has qualified as a pilot.

Well done Amanda!
