Robinson R22 Flight Discovery Day

Pilot the Robinson R22 helicopter for a whole two and a half hours hands on! This experience also includes refreshments, lunch and ground school. On your Flight Discovery Day you will arrive at Helicentre Aviation in the morning for an introductory pre-flight brief with your personal flight instructor, before you take to the air in a Robinson R22 helicopter for your first flying lesson of the day to give you an air experience you will never forget.

Once back at the airfield you will debrief, and depending your progress your instructor will brief the next flight exercise. After flying for the second time you will have learnt how to hold an "attitude", fly straight and level and even have a go at hovering the helicopter, which is one of the most challenging and fun parts of learning to fly helicopters!

Lunch normally comes next and this is a great opportunity to chat to your instructor about the morning's flying and ask any questions you might have about the training syllabus before you take to the skies once again for your final flight of the day.

At the end of your discovery day you will have a good understanding of what is involved in gaining your Helicopter Private Pilots Licence, and furthermore you can count the hours flown towards your PPL(H) should you wish to continue onto taking up of the most exciting hobbies (or careers!) one could ever dream of.

Please note the programme for the day may be altered by your instructor to suit the weather conditions and operational capacity on the day, and the flights may be taken as two longer flights instead of three shorter ones. The maximum weight for a lesson in the R22 is 17st 2lb.
